Fulltime Mama
My name is Elizabeth, and I am the happy wife of ten years to Fabio and fulltime mama to four beautiful children: Joshua-9, Dominique 7, Israel- almost 5, Johann-3 and expecting a new baby in April 2012! We are currently living in Brazil as missionaries and life never ceases to be an adventure!!! I love motherhood with a passion and am passionate about providing a place here at MamaKnowsBest where mothers can learn, grow, and share ... pooling the wisdom of many into one big jackpot for mothers.

I wanted to share an idea for a different kind of baby shower. This is especially nice if the shower is for a subsequent baby, or if the new mom is having multiple showers and has all the "stuff" she needs for baby. It is a "Casserole Shower"!

The idea is to have all invitees bring a frozen (or freeze-able) casserole (or other meal, like soup or something) to stock the new mom's freezer with. That way, after she has her baby, she doesn't have to "hop" back into the kitchen right away, and it also cuts down on grocery trips!

My church is so wonderful - after a mom has a baby the ladies of the church bring her family meals for a couple of weeks!

Even so, it was nice to have some meals in the freezer in addition. Especially when you have several children to care for, it is nice to prolong the time period of ready-meals as long as possible!

If you are planning a casserole shower, have all guest mark on top of their item the name of the food, and the preparation instructions. I also like to have the person's name who prepared it on the top as well. :)
