I am a homeschool mom with six children.
Birthday Scavenger Hunt for Pre-readers

You don't have to do this at a birthday party. You can also do it to just make your child feel special, or create that special moment with you. Now print the pictures off onto cardstock (the bright colors are great for little kids to spot easiest). Then cut them apart. Hide the cards so that one location leads to another. The first might be the toilet. That card would direct the child to the toilet lid in which you tape the next card down. The next card might be the fish tank. The card on the fish tank might be gently resting against the front of the tank. Then that card might have a dog house on it in which they find the next card, and so forth. The last card will have a special surprise (birthday present). My young pre-readers loved this and actually asked to play it more than one time on their birthdays. Some of the pictures below were (fish tank, pot in cabinet, silverware drawer, microwave, piano, toddler pool, dryer, toilet lid, dog house, etc). You can get more fun clips from clipart.com which I use a lot for schooling the children. There are so many fun things to do with the pictures on there: bookmarkers, writing starters, story writing, matching games, etc. You can print these out on cardstock to make them easier to find and play. I hope you enjoy!
