I am a fulltime wife and mother of three boys so far... I have been introduced to A LOT in the last six years of marriage... and am hoping to learn lots more!

It took me until my third little boy to make the switch to cloth diapers. I was pretty intimidated at the thought of washing my own diapers! I couldn't imagine how I would have enough time. After my third was born, I just did it... probably a little TOO fast, because I spent a lot of money on diapers that have left me very disappointed! SO, I will feel a lot better knowing that at least I can save someone else from that same mistake! I was very excited when I ran across BumGenius pocket diapers. They seemed so easy. I stocked up on them, even though they were about $20 a diaper. I did like them initially, but then I found FuzziBunz and they were WAY better. The velcro on the BumGenius just makes them wear out too fast. I bought some FuzziBunz and BumGenius at the same time and FB still look new, while I can barely get the BG to stay fastened! Not to mention that the BG barely fit my one year old. I have wasted a lot of money but hope to save others from doing the same.
If I were to go back, I would stock up on the FB, and also get the Proraps Diaper covers with the cloth diaper inserts. For the inserts, I really like the unbleached prefolds. I just have the regular size and they fit for a long time. I use the proraps covers to make my diaper supply spread out over more days. They are velcro but very reasonably priced, and well made.
As for the time to wash them, you just do it. One thing that has made it a lot easier for the poopy ones is that my husband made a cloth diaper sprayer for me that attaches to out toilet. You can see the tutorial on how to make one of those here. (And, I won't lie, I still use disposable for a break when we travel and such.)
