A stay at home mom to 3 kids and happily married for 7 1/2 years!
Has your child ever had a ring around their bottom that looked more like a burn than a rash?  This often happens when the child has several episodes of diarrhea.  Not only does this burn the baby but it also is difficult to heal up because it is irritated everytime they fill up the diaper! We experienced this with my son when he was first born and none of the diaper creams seemed to help.  Our pediatrician told us to get liquid maalox and dab it on the area with a cotton swab, then apply the diaper creme.  The maalox coats and protects the area so the acid from the feces won't continue to irritate! This cleared everything up for us almost overnight. Give it a try!

Thank you for posting this - I needed it last week when my baby got a case of viral diarrhea and was SSOOOO inflamed! This cleared it up quickly. :)
