We first played the "Find-It" game at the dentist's office. My children just loved it! They all four gathered around it twisting, shaking, and tapping it to find everything on the list. I told them that we should get some of those games for Christmas presents for the cousins, but found out later that they were a little bit out of our budget. So, we decided to just make some! It was so fun going around the house finding a bunch of little items to put in the game. We only had to buy a few of things! We bought some plastic containers, some rice, and some letter and number beads. We bought the bigger bags of beads to have enough to make several games out of, we also bought the biggest bag of rice that we could find! We made six games all together out of the beads and rice. We did use some mason jars for a few of them. They work great, and we had plenty stored down in the basement! To assemble the game, you take your container/jar and put in 1 of each letter of the alphabet(A-Z), and 1 of each number(0-9), then you can add any small items that you have around the house. Make a list of things as you add them. Small item suggestions: dime, nickel, penny, dice, paper clip, safety pin, dry bean, bobby pin, rubber band, small rock, button, lego, nail, screw, any mini toys, small wooden shapes, beads with smilely face or other on it, marble, deflated balloon, and any other small items that would work. Once you have gathered all that you are going to put in your game, fill the container/jar with rice until it is about an inch from the top, then put the lid on, and there you go! The lid can be glued on if you feel it is necessary. Print your list of items and make a lot of copies to go with each game. You twist, turn and shake to "find-it", and mark it off the list as you go! This is a great game to play with older and younger children together. The younger ones can shake, and the older ones can mark off things on the list! We've also had "Find-It" races. I hope that you and your family have as much fun putting together and playing this game as much as we did! Enjoy! |
