I am a homeschool mom with six children.
Training and Correcting don't work without a loving relationship. I am always looking for ways to tie heart strings to my children. Here is an idea that God gave to me. The children look forward to it.

The children and I made an "I Love You Jar" . The children write down all the different things that bring them joy, make them feel special or loved on paper. They can write things that they really want to do. Some are requests like: sewing together, playing legos together, baking cookies, making bread, etc. Sometimes I have added things like: stay in our pjs all day, school at the park, museum day, or something God might have inspired me to write. I love to surprise them with unexpected. I have learned children love surprises. Next, the children cut out these individual joy items and folded them. Then we all put them into the jar designated as our "I love you jar".  I randomly pull from the jar on a designated day or sometimes when we are all a bit down and feel sad to lighten and cheer our day up. They love it, and I love to see their faces light up.

What a neat idea. I think I need something like this. My kids are having a hard time with life lately - just being busy and such and I am having a hard time finding ways to tie strings with them. Thanks for sharing!
