I am a blessed mother of five children and four grandchildren. I love to encourage and strengthen other women with the same encouragement I've received from the Lord, who is "the Father of mercies and God of all comfort"

One day as I was walking on the bike path my attention was immediately drawn to the sky. There was a mixture of white and charcoal clouds that were trying their best to hide the sun, but its bright rays still shone through. There's something so fascinating about the sky no matter what mood it's in or what color it's wearing. It's a reflection of the glory of the God who created it!
On this particular day the verse in Deuteronomy 33:26-27 came to my mind: "There is none like God, O Israel, who rides throught the heavens to your help, and in his majesty through the skies. The eternal God is your dwelling place, and underneath are the everlasting arms." What an amazing picture of God coming to our rescue! John Piper says, "When he rides through the heavens to our help, and in his majesty through the skies, he picks us up and holds us next to his heart with everlasting arms."
The Bible is so full of revelations of who our God is. I'm baffled by people who say they read a book and got a picture of God in a way they never saw Him in Scripture. I want to ask them, "Have you ever read the Bible all the way through?" or "Are you trusting a man's opinion of who God is more than you're trusting the revelation God has given us of who He is?"
Only the Word of God has the power to impart understanding and bring life. Psalm 119:130 says, "The unfolding of your words gives light; it imparts understanding to the simple." And the verse I use when I'm having a hard time, "This is my comfort in my affliction, that your promise gives me life."
I'm so thankful for a God that is ready to come to our rescue whenever we call on Him! Psalm 62:8 says, "Trust in Him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us." Do you run to Him when you're weighed down with worry or fears? He's waiting for you to look up and picture Him riding through the heavens to help you, and scoop you up in His loving arms. |
