Mommy2Jacks&Wil
I am a stay at home wife and mommy. I've been married to Travis for 5 years and we have two sons, Jacks (2 1/2) and Wil (8 months). I have a BS in nursing and worked as a pediatric nurse before I had children.
My son used to get terrible diaper rash and I tried absolutely everything in the diapering aisle, it seemed. Then I remembered something we used at the hospital (I used to be a pediatric nurse) when babies had bad diaper rash. It is called Resinol. Its actual use is for burns or skin irritations. I've only found it once actually out in an aisle, at Target. Most of the time you'll have to find it behind  the pharmacy counter or the pharmacist will have to order it for you. It is over the counter, so you don't have to have a prescription. This stuff is amazing. It usually clears up diaper rash in a day or two. Just apply it to the bottom of your baby 2-4 times a day. When you change your baby, if there is still some Resinol on his or her bottom, don't wipe it completely off, it will just irritate the bottom more. It is the only diaper cream I keep in the house now. My second son has never had a diaper rash. As soon as there is even a hint or pink, I put this stuff on and he's better by the next diaper change.

I have a tip, can I just put it under this heading? Okay, here goes....

mama's milk...you read that right ladies! Breastmilk has worked for me thus far. My baby was getting a red bum, so I just squirted a little on the redness and the next day gone.

ANd just yesterday her diaper was rubbing her the wrong way and was leaving a mark, so I squirted on that as well and that seems to have cleared. Call me crazy, but it works for me!

Thanks for your post on Resinol. I had to have the local Wal-mart order this for me. I got the small container and it was approx. $5.00, but I have to say it worked wonders. We were having issues with my daughter's diaper not getting changed as often as we thought it should at daycare and she kept getting diaper rash, this time it turned into blistering diaper rash. I tried the Resinol and after usining it for just one day the diaper rash was pretty much gone!!!! Thanks for the suggestion!
