Denise Marotta Lopes
Denise Marotta Lopes is a daughter of the King, a woman who is loved by her heavenly Father. It is her joy to be a wife, and mother of two grown children, and to serve those whom God brings into her life. It is her heart's desire to see people so consumed by the love of God that they pour out onto others, and are set free to walk out their destinies.
She has written a book titled "Who's Sitting on Your Nest? The Virtues of Stay-at-Home Motherhood". It focuses on the joys of stay-at-home motherhood, and the benefits of a life invested in this ministry.
The book was written to affirm those who have chosen to mother full-time and to encourage those who may be considering the call to do so. It takes the reader through the decison-making process, the value of motherhood, and the practical aspects of carrying out the mission.
Denise is an avid lover of Jesus, dedicated intercessor, author, teacher, and speaker.

THE VALUE OF MOTHERHOOD
by Denise Marotta Lopes
The angel went to her and said, "Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you." Luke 1:28 NIV
Are stay-at-home moms valued? If so, why did I write a book about it? If you've read research on the positive effects of working mothers upon their children, remember that the research itself was done by working moms. We live in a credentially-oriented society, placing value on degrees, certifications, and titles. If we are marrying at later ages, chances are we have had an opportunity to work, and become accustomed to a certain lifestyle. It then becomes more difficult to change once children come along. There are so many available options to occupy the children while allowing the moms to work: before-school programs, after-school programs, camps, and other organized activities. My purpose in writing is to get you to consider the option of raising your own children, and to see the value therein.
You will come up against those who don't agree with your decision. I had an interesting conversation with a friend. Both of her children are grown and in college. She went on a job interview and found that the woman conducting the interview was not impressed with my friend's staying home and raising children for many years. While the world may not shine on it, my friend has no regrets. She made the point that because the world doesn't value what we do, we tend to under-rate ourselves.
Angela shared again about her friend. The attorney representing the woman advised that she gain employment because being a stay-at-home mom was not a real job. She felt that a career would impress the judge and help in the custody battle. How many women are buying into that falsehood and de-valuing their God-given call to ministry within their own families? It is time to become righteously angry. As my spiritual son, Stephen, once said, "You're allowed to be angry at sin, Ma!" Amen to that.
God has uniquely gifted each of us to raise our children. If God sees us as valueable, shouldn't we agree? He planned it since before time began. We need to see ourselves as competent and gifted in this area.
