Denise Marotta Lopes
Denise Marotta Lopes is a daughter of the King, a woman who is loved by her heavenly Father. It is her joy to be a wife, and mother of two grown children, and to serve those whom God brings into her life. It is her heart's desire to see people so consumed by the love of God that they pour out onto others, and are set free to walk out their destinies. She has written a book titled "Who's Sitting on Your Nest? The Virtues of Stay-at-Home Motherhood". It focuses on the joys of stay-at-home motherhood, and the benefits of a life invested in this ministry. The book was written to affirm those who have chosen to mother full-time and to encourage those who may be considering the call to do so. It takes the reader through the decison-making process, the value of motherhood, and the practical aspects of carrying out the mission. Denise is an avid lover of Jesus, dedicated intercessor, author, teacher, and speaker.
They're ALL Mine

by Denise Marotta Lopes

One day my friend, Tracy was out with her children.  A woman from our church approached, knowing that five of her six children are adopted, and asked, "Which ones are yours?"  Tracy's response was, "They're ALL mine."  This is the heart of an adoptive mother.

I have been blessed to share the ups and downs of life with my dear friend.  I have seen the longing in her heart when the agency would call, describing a child in need of a family.  I have prayed with her for the child, and experienced the pain of losing that baby when the birth mom changed her mind.  But Tracy's first thought was always the best interest of the child.  Even though, in her mind, she dared see herself as the mommy.

Tracy gave birth to her eldest child and was unable to carry further children to term.  But she has a mother's heart, and prayed for God to bless her with more children.  In the past 11 years, she and her husband have become parents to five more blessed children.  I have been fortunate to see the babies after they've been picked up from the hospital, when the family would stop by my house even before going home to their own.  I am amazed at how quickly the new baby becomes a part of the family, as though they knew all along about his or her arrival.  During the dedication of one of the children, Tracy's husband said that each child is like a piece of a puzzle, and how their family was just not complete without each one.

While life is often hectic in their home, I can see that my friend was just born to have babies in her arms.  During a recent, rather serious illness, when she hadn't the strength to even stand, she would ask to have a baby brought to her.  It's what completes her and brings great joy.

I've often been in the company of this family and considered what the lives of these children would be like if my friends hadn't adopted them.  I am thankful to God that the birth mothers gave them life, and that they sacrificed to place the children into the home of a family that would raise and love them in the Lord.  I marvel at the picture of them gathered around Tracy's chair, laying hands on her and praying for her health to be restored.

Each one of these six delightful children, from ages 22 to one, complete the picture of this family.  With unique features, personalities, and desires, they join to be committed to God and to each other.  It is the true representation of the Father's love.  And it is my privilege to know them.
