Denise Marotta Lopes
Denise Marotta Lopes is a daughter of the King, a woman who is loved by her heavenly Father. It is her joy to be a wife, and mother of two grown children, and to serve those whom God brings into her life. It is her heart's desire to see people so consumed by the love of God that they pour out onto others, and are set free to walk out their destinies.
She has written a book titled "Who's Sitting on Your Nest? The Virtues of Stay-at-Home Motherhood". It focuses on the joys of stay-at-home motherhood, and the benefits of a life invested in this ministry.
The book was written to affirm those who have chosen to mother full-time and to encourage those who may be considering the call to do so. It takes the reader through the decison-making process, the value of motherhood, and the practical aspects of carrying out the mission.
Denise is an avid lover of Jesus, dedicated intercessor, author, teacher, and speaker.

Your Children Can Hear You Denise Marotta Lopes
If you live in the Mid-Atlantic region of the country, as I do, you know that we have received record amounts of snowfall this winter. While it is quite beautiful, I do find myself getting caught up in a lot of media hype over the event, rather than just enjoying the view outside my window or the crunching under my feet. I was watching one such show recently in anticipation of another snowfall when I heard something that caught my attention. The host said that parents were getting sick of snow days. My heart was torn between anger and sadness. I felt sorry for the moms who were unable to enjoy the bonus days with their children, and to join in with their joy and excitement at the forecast. But what stirred me most was wondering how the children felt, knowing that their parents wanted them in school rather than at home.
Our children can hear us. Have you stopped to consider that while you are on the phone speaking to a friend, your little ones are tuned in? They may appear as though they're distracted, but they don't miss much. I remember listening to conversations at the heating vent in my bedroom while my parents entertained guests in the dining room below. While you are on your phone, they hear you.
Are you aware of the impact that your words can have on their little hearts? I have often been in conversation with friends as they speak about things their children shouldn't hear and try to gently direct my attention to the young ones. They can hear you, you know! Be careful of your words. Your children are listening. Their little ears are attentive. In fact, we shouldn't be speaking words that are not edifying to begin with, but there are times when we need to share our hearts or concerns with a friend. Just be careful if the concerns are not meant to be shared with your children. They may be tuned in.
My neighbor, Bianca, loves being with her children. Her Facebook status often contains plans that she has to spend time with her daughter doing various activities. I smile when I read these updates because I can see that she makes the most of her moments and truly enjoys them. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm sure that there are times when you are just plain worn out and in need of rest. Not a problem. Communicate that. But don't say, "I can't wait for these kids to go back to school!" What kind of a message does that send? It is not a message of love. Your child will hear those words as rejection.
Check yourself and don't speak words out of frustration. Get rest. Get refreshed. Go play in the snow. And speak words of love and words of life. Your children are listening.
